Cheeca...

We went to a paint class on Monday, above is our almost blank canvas.

 Bryan displaying his artistic abilities.
 B's masterpiece
My finished product!

We painted with an instructor for a few hours and it was a neat experience. Bryan suggested that we frame our painting and hang them together, we will have to just see about that.

A few pictures of the Cheeca Lodge...

The grounds were phenomenal, complete with torches in the trees.
That amazed us all week to think that they did not catch on fire.

This was the view of "Spa Island" from our room.

The beach was absolutely beautiful!!

May we never forget...

the women and men that so unselfishly accepted the charge to defend our freedom.

Thank you Papa for your service!
Daddy-Thank you for being willing to serve our nation.
Uncle Randy-Thank you for giving your life to serve our country. God blessed you with such a servants heart and many men have been blessed through your service.

Brennan-Thank you for stepping up to serve.

Zack-Thank you for following your heart in spite of our kicking and screaming. You have taught me more than you will ever know through your service, I have such a greater appreciation for those women and men that answer to call thanks to you. Thank you for being our solider!

May we stop today to remember all of those that so willing serve so we can be free!

Get Away...

This past week Bryan and I made our way to Islamorada, Florida for a little vacation. We went to the Cheece Lodge and it was absolutely wonderful. Bryan won this trip as a result of the his sales last year so, there were people from his company there with us. It was really neat to meet people from all over the country that do what he does each day. Our week was simply peaceful and we got to see another piece of God's beautiful creation. I will leave you today with a few pictures of the facilities. More to come on our week!

We both got a massage at the spa and I got a facial. I had never had a facial before and it felt really good. The only thing that I did not like is that the lady working on me kindly told me that I needed to have a chemical peel for fine lines and she would recommend I see my dermatologist for the break out on my chin, I tell you I walked away feeling great about myself. Just to let you know the chemical peel probably will not happen, I guess I will look like a raisin and I think I will go visit my dermatologist. :)

Count Down to Summer...

Since we do not have children yet I get to dote on many little ones. From time to time throughout the year I leave a little treat for the Powell boys to find when they come down for breakfast. I decided this year that I would do a little count down the last 2 weeks of school. I was not in town in this past week so I left  instructions with Melodie on their daily gifts.

We started off the week with cookies. 3 days to go brought "Build your Own" airplanes. Getting geared up for pool days on Day 2 we had to have a few water bombs. On the last day the boys got canteens and some snacks for the adventure that awaits them.

Welcome to Summer!!

2 L

I know that we are in the same boat with everyone, life is crazy busy! I have lots of things that I need to record here so that when I am old and sitting in my rocking chair I will have something to read.  Bryan finished his first year of law school a few weeks ago. It is really hard to believe that he has a year behind him. Going into this journey we really had no idea what to expect, but I have to say that God has been so good throughout the year. Bryan has found a balance with school and work. I could NEVER do what he does, but that is why God made us all different. He has enjoyed his 3 weeks out of school and now he is jumping back in for his first Summer session. In reflecting on this past year I think we have both learned to cherish the moments we have of "down time" together, because to be honest they are few. I have learned to be extra quiet when he is studying, now that is hard for me! I think the greatest lesson we have learned is that you have to take a step of faith and trust that God will meet you. I am really proud of Bryan, he has worked extra hard. It was so neat to celebrate moving from 1 L to 2 L. I look forward to year number 2!
